Rena wreck to stay on reef
In 2011 one of New Zealands worst maritime disaster occurred.
The container ship Rena, carrying 1300 containers and 350,000 litres of oil ran aground on a reef of the coast in the Bay of Plenty.
The oil spilt covered kilometers of coast line and thousands of birds and other sea life costing millions.
This week it was decided that the remains of the wreckage could stay on the reef.
environentalists have opposed the decision, while recreational divers have welcomed it.
MY OPINION:I think that it is bad that they spilt so much oil,but it is also a good place for fish to hide.
